B (Medium/Standard) is the standard width for women's snowboard boots.
D (Medium/Standard) is the standard width for men's snowboard boots.
If your resulting size is above standard, then a wide boot is indicated.
There are still very few wide boots produced for snowboarding and each of those is produced for a specific letter width. It is important that you use the letter with provided by the calculator and match that to the manufacturer spec for their wide boot model.
No narrow boots are currently produced in the snowboard industry. As such, riders with narrow feet will need to select standard width boots.
